The Professor Stanley Wells, CBE Fellowship
In 2015 American Friends expanded its educational outreach by introducing a new scholarship program to honor Professor Stanley Wells, CBE with whom we have collaborated since 1997. The Professor Stanley Wells, CBE Fellowship is granted to two Ph D candidates in English literature at Yale University. The fellowship is designed to assist the candidates on their dissertations by arranging for a guesthouse stay in Stratford-upon-Avon, access to the SBT library and other resources, visiting with Professor Wells as well as other Shakesperians.
The two doctoral candidates were selected by Professor David Kastan, the George M. Bodman Professor of English at Yale University. Previously, Professor Kastan helped American Friends launch the Gilman Fellowship in 1995 during his tenure at Columbia University by selecting English students for summer study at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
We are pleased to be offering this fellowship to Yale doctoral candidates and to that end are actively raising funds.
